Eligibility

To be eligible for the TPCG Scholarship Program, students must meet the below criteria:

  • Be a resident of Paterson, NJ or a member of a local Christian congregation
  • A high school senior applying to college, currently enrolled in college (undergraduate or graduate), or pursuing a certificate at a trade school
  • Display outstanding academic achievement (minimum 85% or B+ average)
  • Ranked in the top 20% of his/her class or have a combined SAT score 1680 (70%) or better
  • Proven track record of commitment to learning and community service.
  • Demonstrate financial need

 

How to Apply

Submitting the required documents is the first step to becoming a TPCG Scholar. For consideration, students must provide a copy of the items listed below:

  1. Official transcript/report card and/or SAT sores (for high school seniors or college students in their first semester)
  2. Signed letter of recommendation from Guidance Counselor, Professor/Advisor, or Pastor
  3. Proof of community service involvement or other leadership activities
  4. Proof of residence (copy of Driver’s License or state issued ID)

 

Rules

Once received, all candidate profiles will be assessed and a group of semifinalists will be selected. Upon notification, semifinalists will be required to submit an introductory essay

  • Awardees will be selected by the TPCG Scholarship Committee
  • All Scholarship Committee decisions are final
  • Scholarships are non-renewable one-time awards (all applicants, if eligible, must reapply during the next submission cycle)

 

Applicants will be judged based on their written essay, academic accomplishments, leadership, community service and financial need. The candidates with the highest combined scores in the categories listed below will be awarded scholarships. The categories are:

  1. An essay of at least 300 words (maximum 750) – 40 points
  2. Academic Achievement – 30 points
  3. Community Service – 20 points
  4. Leadership – 10 points
